All-in-One Canopy Makeup Air Hood FAQs
What ceiling height do I need for this canopy hood?
The All-in-One canopy needs a minimum ceiling of seven feet. It hangs as low as 78" above the floor on a 2-1/2" bracket with a 12" front. Final fit depends on your cooking equipment and local clearance to combustibles, typically 18" for a Type I hood unless an approved reduction method is used. For lower ceilings, see our Low Box makeup air hood.
What's the difference between the canopy and the Low Box hood?
The canopy has a 24" front for standard-height kitchens; the Low Box has a 12" front for low ceilings. Fans, filters, construction, and listings are the same on both.
How much makeup air does the hood supply?
The integrated supply fan delivers 612 to 3600 CFM of fresh outside air, up to 80% of the exhaust airflow, through a perforated side discharge at the hood. Your local code and HVAC design determine how the remaining replacement air is provided.
Do I need a rooftop exhaust fan or makeup air unit?
No. The exhaust blower wheel, fully enclosed motor, and supply fan sit inside the hood, so there's no roof-mounted fan or separate makeup air unit. You still run UL-listed exhaust duct, up to 150 feet, from the left or right side.
What electrical service does the hood need?
115-volt, single phase, 60 Hz, up to 30 amps, through a single-point connection for fans and lights. Field wiring uses minimum 14 AWG copper and must be installed by a licensed electrician.
How is the canopy hood installed?
The hood hangs from the building structure on 3/8" threaded rod (provided by others) attached to its hanging brackets, following SMACNA guidelines. Never puncture the grease containment area to hang it; that voids the warranty and UL listing.
What size are the duct connections?
The exhaust collar is 16" x 16", and the supply collar is 12" x 12". Maximum external static pressure is 0.56" for exhaust and 0.65" for supply. A round duct adapter is available.
Does the canopy hood need fire suppression?
Yes. Every Type I grease hood needs a fire suppression system. This hood can ship with a factory pre-piped Kidde or Ansul UL 300 system; a licensed fire system installer completes the final hookup, testing, and certification.
How often should the filters be cleaned?
Inspect the baffle filters and empty the grease cup daily. Wash the stainless baffle filters weekly in a dishwasher or sink with mild detergent, more often in heavy-grease kitchens. Never use abrasive cleaners on the hood.
What warranty comes with the hood?
Two years from the date of shipment against defects in workmanship and materials, provided the hood is properly stored, installed and maintained. Fire suppression systems and other third-party components carry their own manufacturer's warranty.
